More than money: Father-child relationships in early childhood

In this presentation I review the empirical evidence that links father involvement to children’s developmental outcomes during early childhood. I take a family systems perspective that fathers’ contribution to their children’s development is over and above the contribution of mothers and present evidence that explores various mechanisms of influence. Finally, I situate my research on father involvement in a cultural and policy context that has important implications for programs and policies.
